Soft Records is 25 years old!
Soft began as a vehicle to release the first Purdy album 'Kevolution', which was released, quite strangely, in the last two weeks of the millennium. Normally that would be the worst time to release an album, which should have gone by unnoticed, amongst the madness of Xmas and New Years, but it didn't. It was beautifully received and got the ball rolling for this lovely new label.
The ensuing 25 years that have travelled by since that magical beginning have continued to reap wonder for the label and its' artists.
Apart from the key artists released on Soft: Kevin Purdy, Sir Robbo (Shane Roberts), Purdy and John Maddox as Tooth and Geoff Towner, there has been a plethora of amazing artists who gave themselves, body & soul, to the albums released.
Peter Hollo, Tim Hollo, Jeremy Barnett, Rory Toomey, Daevid Allen, Sloth, Tim Batson, Kym Moyes, Bobby Singh, Inga Liljestrom, Duncan Irving, Jim Denley, The Kooky Kids, Joe Cannon, Paula Henderson, Lyndon Pike, Penny McBride, Yasmin Percy, Christian Houllemare, Simon Ferenci, William Bowden, Erica Olsen, Amanda Stewart, Niveen Abdelatty, Alex Crowfoot, Donna Amini and once again John Maddox.
You are thanked from the bottom of our Soft Heart.
11 albums and 2 12"s may seem a tiny output for 25 years, but everything has been done with love, and care for the sounds and vision that we put out there, and a focus on how we feed the people of the world.
Thanks for all the love we've received over the years for the music on Soft Records.
